SUNY Brockport completed a multimillion-dollar upgrade to its outdoor athletic facilities with the addition of a second turf facility adjacent to Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in the Fall of 2022. The major components of the project included a brand-new lighted turf stadium, a state-of-the-art press box servicing both turf facilities, and a building at the entrance of the facility which houses new bathrooms and a ticket booth.
"We want to provide our student-athletes here at SUNY Brockport with the best possible experience and we know that continuous enhancements to our facilities are a big part of that," said Brockport Athletic Director Erick Hart. "This facility will help us to continue to excel athletically and compete for conference and national championships. I really could not be happier for our student-athletes, coaches and the entire campus community."
The additional turf is 385 feet x 399 feet and is the new home for Brockport's soccer, field hockey and lacrosse programs. The turf also services a variety of other areas on campus including club sports and intramurals.
The new dual-sided press box is a two-story 1,900 square foot facility. The press box features two operations areas, one for the east field and one for the west field, to allow for managing multiple contests simultaneously. The press box also features a large VIP area for guests to comfortably watch athletic contests. In addition, two media rooms and two coaches' boxes provide extra working space for staff and visitors. An elevator allows for accessibility to the press box.
Additional amenities at the new turf facility are bleachers for a capacity of nearly 1,000 fans, a state-of-the-art Daktronics scoreboard, speaker system, bench shelters, fencing, and much more.
